From West Africa to Turkey: A New Chapter in Our Development
GUIRCO’s history began in 2019 with the establishment of GUIRCO SARL in Conakry, Republic of Guinea. Built on more than twenty years of its management team’s experience in international trade, engineering, and industrial development, the company was founded to support commercial relations and industrial cooperation, particularly in West African markets.
GUIRCO’s initial activities focused on technical and engineering services for industrial projects in Africa. These included design and engineering services for industrial facilities, including projects related to cement plants in Libya.
Over time, in response to the evolving needs of its customers, GUIRCO expanded into international trading and the supply of industrial goods, intermediate products, and finished goods.
The supply of PET preforms, bottle caps, shrink films, spare parts, and factory equipment represents part of the company’s practical trading experience.
Strategic Expansion into Turkey
To strengthen its international sourcing network and provide better services to customers in North and West Africa, GUIRCO planned to expand its commercial activities through a new company in Turkey.
Originally scheduled to take place earlier, this expansion was delayed by approximately one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The plan was realized in January 2021, with the establishment of a second company in Turkey under the name GUIRCO DIŞ TİCARET SANAYİİ ŞİRKETİ.
This development marked a new stage in GUIRCO’s international activities, with the coordination center for its commercial operations moving to Mersin, Turkey.
The Turkish company now serves as the principal center of GUIRCO’s commercial activities, while the experience gained in Guinea remains an important part of its history and understanding of African markets.
Why Mersin?
The decision to establish operations in Mersin rather than Istanbul was based on the company’s commercial and operational requirements.
Mersin’s proximity to a major commercial port, its logistics infrastructure, and Turkey’s trade connections with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa provide a favorable environment for international trading activities.
This location supports relations with international suppliers and manufacturers, as well as the coordination of sourcing and goods movements toward target markets, particularly in North and West Africa.
It also supports the development of commercial relations with Middle Eastern countries, including Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.
Our Activities and Approach
Today, GUIRCO combines its experience in technical and engineering services with international trading, sourcing, and procurement activities.
Rather than limiting its operations to a specific product category, the company responds to its customers’ requirements across industrial products, intermediate goods, equipment, and finished products.
Our objective has remained consistent since GUIRCO’s establishment: to develop markets and provide reliable, effective, and needs-based services to customers and business partners, primarily in North and West Africa.
This approach continues to guide the development of our commercial relationships and international network.
